How NairaRate Compares Quotes and Handles Missing Data

Explains a transparent approach to source labels, quote validation, stale data, limitations and corrections.

A comparison page is only as useful as its method. Visitors should be able to understand what is being compared, how recent the data is and what happens when a source does not return a valid quote. This article describes the principles a transparent comparison process should follow; source availability and details can change over time.

Keep the comparison like-for-like

Each quote should be associated with its source, asset, fiat currency and trade direction. Buy prices should be compared with buy prices, and sell prices with sell prices. When an offer's size limits or fees are not supplied, the page should not imply that the price is fully comparable for every visitor.

Validate before updating

A data response should be checked for a successful status, expected fields and a plausible numeric price. Empty responses, parsing failures and invalid values should not overwrite a known-good quote. A fallback value must be labelled with its age instead of appearing current.

Show the time of the last successful fetch

The page should distinguish the time a source was successfully retrieved from the time the page was opened. When a source is stale, label it clearly. When no usable quote exists, show unavailable rather than filling the gap with an estimate presented as a real offer.

Explain limitations plainly

Some sources may not expose every fee, merchant limit or payment condition to an external comparison tool. These unknowns should remain unknown. A reader should be directed to the source's own order screen to confirm the final terms.

Corrections and maintenance

If a source changes its response format or a value appears inconsistent, the operator should investigate the source and calculation, document the issue and correct the underlying process. A correction channel helps readers report problems, but visitors should avoid sending passwords, private keys or payment credentials.

What the comparison does not do

The comparison is informational. It does not place orders, hold assets, verify a user's account, guarantee a merchant or predict future prices. The original platform's current terms take precedence over a comparison snapshot.
